Adobe Acrobat PDF Versions

Adobe acrobat was the first one to launch the PDF file format. It introduced 6 versions till now. Following are the details of Adobe Acrobat versions:-

• Acrobat version 3.0 and PDF version 1.2 – It was introduced in 1996. It has great feature of linearization for displaying the web page quickly and also added interactions, hyperlinks etc.

• Acrobat version 4.0 and PDF version 1.3 – It was launched in 1999. This version introduced many new features like structure, file embedding and digital signatures.

• Acrobat version 5.0 and PDF version 1.4 - It was launched in 2001. It launched new compression algorithm like JBIG2 compression, imaging model(transparent).

• Acrobat version 6.0 and PDF version 1.5 - It was launched in 2003. This version added great feature of compressing the whole file compression at one time.

• Acrobat version 7.0 and PDF version 1.6 - It was launched in 2005. This version also introduced variety of new features like improved PDF optimizing, embedding new Open Type fonts, Path smoothing etc.

• Acrobat version 8.0 and PDF version 1.7 - It was launched in 2006. This version made also added advanced features in 3D like advanced commenting features, and security.
