What is PDF Encryption?

The most advantageous feature of the Portable Document Format is that a person can protect the contents of the document. Protection is one of the most preferred and relevant to this document. Encryption is the process of encoding information so that the person with an authentication key can decode the information. This information is encoded and decoded in the form of passwords, certificates or digital signatures. A user with a correct password can access the files. By encrypting the files with the certificates, which means a person with the appropriate certificate to open PDF documents. There is another option to encrypt the Portable Document Format. A person can also protect PDF documents using digital signatures.

In case if an author wants to make use of passwords, you can use two types of passwords that are called "user password" or "owner password. In case if you use an older one, a person who has access to PDF file will need to enter the correct password to open the PDF file. If an author encodes the file with the password of the owner of one person can open the PDF file without the password, but it needs to allow any function (such as copying , editing or modifying) which has been disabled by the author. There are many PDF conversion tools available on the market that helps users to use either method to encrypt the files. In this format, a person can protect content documents and store sensitive data from being hampered.
